Session 1 – Laying the Foundation:

An Introduction to Systemic Issues

Building on Speaker Session 1, this roundtable will explore some of the key structural and systemic barriers to racial equity, and the role these play in Vermont housing.

Desired Outcomes:

● Housing practitioner participants will become familiar with the format, roles, and expectations of the roundtable series, and make introductions.
● Housing practitioners will have the opportunity to examine and discuss:

– historic challenges of and opportunities for greater racial equity in the housing system as they present in Vermont;
– The impact of housing language on Vermont’s housing consumers and access to housing; and
– Assumptions underlying the housing system in the US, and their impact, especially in VT. (what is possible, and what’s not possible).
