Abundant SunBurst – Can Doughnut Economics Work for Vermont?

Our monthly Abundant SunBurst Monday evenings are back!!

(after quite a hiatus)

Join us on Monday, April 18th 2022, 5:30pm – 7:00pm, to consider how we might apply Kate Raworth’s Doughnut Economics framework in Vermont.

Prior the conversation, please watch the following 15 min TED talk: A healthy economy should be designed to thrive, not grow. Ellen Kahler and Dr. Jude Smith Rachele will give a brief presentation on the 7 Principles that make up the Doughnut Economics framework. Preliminary metrics on where Vermont lands in and outside the doughnut will be shared.

We will discuss how we might move Vermont towards existing within the doughnut: creating a safe, just space for humanity through a regenerative and distributive economy that provides all the social foundations for humanity and the planet to thrive together and within ecological boundaries (ceilings).

We will hopefully be joined by Jon Erickson of UVM, David Blittersdorf Professor of Sustainability Science & Policy. Check out his profile here.
